Meadowood Christmas Concert Covered by WFIU
Since 2001, I have been blessed and fortunate to be either the accompanist and/or director of the Meadowood Singers, a singing group that is part of the Meadowood Retirement Community, located in Bloomington, Indiana. One of the highlights of my week for the last twelve years has been an hour and a half weekday rehearsal with a few dozen enthusiastic singers, all in their seventies, eighties, and nineties. We rehearse and perform choral arrangements of classic popular songs that they remember from their younger years. We generally give three concerts a year, one of which is a Christmas holiday concert. Adam Schwartz from WFIU, the public radio station from Indiana University, created a short radio piece on that concert last month. He recorded our last rehearsal and performance and interviewed me and some of the singers and put together a really touching four and a half minute portrait of the Meadowood Singers, along with an article about the experience.Listen to the broadcast below:[display_podcast]
